Ingredients
  

  • 6 –8 medium strawberries plus extras for garnish
  • 6 fresh basil leaves more if you love herb hits
  • Ice lots of it
  • ~12–16 oz 360–480 ml ice-cold sparkling lemon beverage (e.g., Tuscanini Sparkling Lemon Beverage, or any lemon soda/sparkling lemonade)
  • Optional garnish: lemon slice half strawberry, extra basil leaf
  • Tip: If you want to keep it lower-sugar swap the sparkling lemonade for plain sparkling water and add 1 tsp maple syrup or agave per glass.

Equipment

  • 2 short glasses (rocks or tumblers work great)
  • Muddler (or a sturdy wooden spoon) — to smash the fruit and basil
  • Small knife & cutting board — for garnish
  • Jigger or measuring cup (optional)
  • Ice scoop or tongs
  • No cocktail shaker. No chemistry degree. I told you it was easy.

Method
 

  1. Divide the strawberries and basil. Place 3–4 strawberries and 3 basil leaves in each glass.
  2. Muddle gently. Use a muddler or wooden spoon to press the fruit and basil together. Aim to release juices without turning everything into mush.
  3. Add ice. Fill the glasses with ice to cool everything down and hold the muddled mixture in place.
  4. Top with sparkling lemon beverage. Pour the cold lemon beverage over the ice, dividing evenly between the two glasses. Stir gently once or twice to mix.
  5. Garnish and serve. Add a lemon slice, half a strawberry, and an extra basil leaf on top. Sip immediately.
  6. Bold tip: Muddle lightly — you want juice and aroma, not a puree.
